Trip Informations
Follow India’s famous Golden Triangle to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur on this 19-day trip. Explore iconic sites like the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort and Jaipur's Royal City Palace, plus uncover the lesser-known highlights of this fascinating region. Witness the opulence of Rajasthan's palaces and immerse yourself in local traditions at a heritage homestay. Head north into the Himalayan foothills and breathe in the crisp mountain air as you wander the small town of Mandi and Dharamsala – a mountain town with a rich Tibetan Buddhist culture – then end it all back where you started, in bustling Delhi.

Is this trip right for you?
verified
This trip involves some long train rides, including a 10-hour overnight sleeper train from Amritsar to Rishikesh and a nine-hour train from Rishikesh to Delhi. Sleeper trains are a quintessential Indian travel experience. They’re a great way to travel long distances and maximise your time in each place. You’ll be travelling alongside locals, as well as Tuuur travellers, in a compartment of mixed genders. You’ll find more details about the experience in the Accommodation section of the Essential Trip Information, or you can read more about it here: https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/ https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/ (https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/)
verified
Part of travelling with Tuuur means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. We visit several temples on this trip, which requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants/skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it's hot.
verified
Rajasthan can reach extremely high temperatures in the summer. While we aim to do our walking tours early in the morning when it’s cooler, remember to stay hydrated and to bring a hat, sunscreen, a long-sleeved shirt and anything else that will protect you from the sun.
verified
This trip also travels into the Himalayas, where temperatures can get very low. Be prepared for cold weather at any time of year (particularly from November to March). The sun can also be strong at higher altitudes, so sun protection is still important.
verified
Old Delhi is a great place to see local life moving around you, but can be very busy and crowded. On the walking tour, you’ll need to navigate through people, tight spaces and walkways.
verified
In Dharamsala, our vehicle can’t get all the way to the hotel, so some walking (500 m) with your luggage will be required.
verified
We'll be taking a private vehicle between Mandi and Dharamsala. The scenery is wonderful, but the road through the mountains is rough and bumpy. If you suffer from motion sickness, please be prepared for this journey.
verified
As Rishikesh is a sacred town, no alcohol consumption is permitted during your stay there.
verified
We've sourced our accommodation carefully and picked the best possible hotels in line with the Tuuur style of travel. Service and accommodation in India may be different from western standards.

This trip is a combination of two tours...a taster of Rajasthan which would invite you to do more and followed by a trip into the mountains to visit all the spiritually important places of Northern India. This part was simply wonderful, giving us an opportunity to visit the holy places in Hinduism, including Sikhism, and Buddhism as well as finding clear clean air in the mountains after the pollution of Delhi...it is a completely different view of India quiete, peaceful and indeed spiritual. I highly recommend it. Our group leaders, Guarang on the Rajasthan portion and Ajay on the Mountains & Mystics portions, made the whole adventure a delight. We'd learned so much and at least for myself absorbed some of the spirituality of this wonderful country
