Trip Informations
Travel through the Land of Kings on this 15-day classic Rajasthan journey, from the bustling streets of Delhi to the Mughal icons of Agra. Experience the colours and energy of northern India as you move about the state by train, private vehicle and jeep between lively cities, quiet countryside and desert towns. Witness the opulence of Maharajahs’ palaces, learn the history of massive forts and stroll through local markets. Search for the elusive Bengal tiger, share a meal with a family in Pushkar, spend the night in the desert and tick one of the Seven Wonders of the World off your bucket list. Immerse yourself in Rajasthan’s history, all with a local by your side to guide the way.
Why you’ll love this trip
Snap a pic of the iconic Taj Mahal, India’s most celebrated masterpiece and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Feel Mughal history come alive at Agra Fort, with its grand walls, royal chambers and Indo-Persian architecture.
Feel the thrill of an evening tiger safari at Ranthambore National Park, once a royal hunting ground and now one of India’s most famous wildlife reserves.
Step into the 19th-century charm of Bundi, where you’ll explore the beautifully detailed Garh Palace. Wander narrow lanes and ride in a tuk tuk through town.
Spend a peaceful night in the Bijaipur countryside, coming together for a local, seasonally inspired meal, and try some authentic favorites like baingan masala (eggplant cooked with tomatoes) or murgh korma (chicken korma).
Soak in India’s changing landscapes and travel like a local by rail. By choosing trains to get around, you’ll be giving yourself the best opportunity for local interaction, at a more relaxed pace.
Is this trip right for you?
While there is no guarantee you will see a tiger during your safari in Ranthambhore, you may have a chance to see a variety of other wildlife, including hyenas, jackals, deer, langurs, marsh crocodiles, wild boars and birdlife.
Make sure your luggage is light and compact enough to be carried up and down multiple flights of stairs.
There are several long travel days on this trip. Some journeys take 6 to 8 hours but are a great opportunity to get to know locals, fellow travellers and the diverse scenery. We are covering a lot of this vast country during the trip, so the journey is all part of the India experience.
Prepare for hot and sticky temperatures during the day and cooler climates in the evening, particularly in the desert. Pack layers to tackle this disparity in weather.
You’ll visit several temples on this trip, which requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
Accommodations are sourced carefully and we have picked the best possible hotels in line with the Tuuur style of travel. Service and accommodation in India may be different from Western standards.

This was my first group trip and it surpassed all expectations! As a solo female traveler, this was the perfect way to explore India with confidence and feeling safe. Our itinerary covered all of the major stops, but also included places that would have been very difficult to see on our own as foreigners. Our guide Vijay was phenomenal. Highly recommend!

The Intrepid tour of Classic Rajasthan was above and beyond what I was expecting. We covered so much and had a great range of experiences. I came away with a much deeper understanding of Indian culture and of the day-to-day lifestyle in different cities and towns. I felt so incredibly safe on this trip, while having a lot of fun, but also felt relaxed. Mukendra is an outstanding Tour Leader if you are lucky to have him!

I loved the depth of experiences that the Classic Rajasthan tour offered covering history, architecture, food, people and so much more.... Jitu, our tour guide, took advantage of every day activities to give us a unique perspective of life in India e.g. seeing a street procession the van pulled over for us to see and participate in this colourful and loud celebration. A shout out to Neha on the Delhi street food tour, Deepika's cooking class in Udaipur and of course the wonderful Jitu.
