Trip Informations
Tap into your adventurous side on this 19-day trip to Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. Visit east Africa’s most abundant wildlife hotspots – track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park and gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, then spot lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, buffalo and more on safaris in the Maasai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll get a taste of local everyday life when you spend a night in a Maasai village, plus you’ll get your heart racing when you choose from activities like whitewater rafting and bungee jumping in the adrenaline hub of Jinja.
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Come face to face with rare mountain gorillas in the forests of Uganda with the help of expert rangers and trackers.
verified
Cross the Serengeti in a purpose-built truck for a classic east African experience – think vast plains spotted with thorn trees and huge herds of zebras and gazelles.
verified
Trek in search of chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park and spend an hour observing how they play, feed and communicate with each other.
verified
Spend the night in a Maasai village in the remote Loita Hills region – be welcomed with traditional warrior song and dance, learn about life from community elders and maybe even learn to throw a spear.
verified
Search for wildebeest, lions and leopards on a game drive in Maasai Mara National Reserve, then listen to the African wilderness come alive after sunset at your bush camp.
Is this trip right for you?

No two journeys in east Africa are identical. Be prepared for travel times to be longer than advised. Weather and road conditions can change things significantly, so embrace the detours, shortcuts and unforgettable moments along the way. There will be lots of time spent travelling in a private vehicle with your group, but it’s a great way to get to know your fellow travellers.
verified
Tracking gorillas in the dense forest can sometimes be wet, muddy and uncomfortable. The terrain is by no means easy either, so it can be strenuous and often humid. The sheer thrill of coming across a habituated group of gorillas, dominated by a great male silverback, more than outweighs any difficulty. You need to be prepared and fit enough to walk up to four hours – up and down hills.

4WD vehicles are used in Uganda. You will travel in convoy style and due to the configuration of the vehicles there may be times when you are not travelling with your leader. In Kenya and Tanzania, the trip is an overland trip. This means you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle, visiting remote communities, setting up your own tent, occasionally roughing it in the bush with no facilities, waking up before sunrise and getting the best possible views of Africa's iconic wildlife. While the trucks don’t have air conditioning, they do have sliding windows which let in the breeze and make it even easier to take spectacular snaps of the local wildlife. In Loita Hills, you'll be staying in a secure bush camp with basic facilities. Hot bucket showers are available in the morning. Wi-fi is not available and only minimal upgrades are on offer.
verified
Camping in the Serengeti National Park with no barriers between you and the animals is amazing, but it's important to heed the safety advice of your leader. Your leader will brief you in detail on how to set up camp so as to deter animals from entering the campsite.
