The weather can be unpredictable in the Himalayas and every year a significant number of trips have flights to or from Lukla delayed or cancelled due to weather conditions. See day 1 of the itinerary for the alternative plans should this happen on your trip.

Hiking the Himalayas is no walk in the park. But seriously, this trip includes 12 days of trekking for up to eight hours per day, reaching altitudes of over 5500 metres. Depending on the time of year, the weather can be harsh. Ask anyone who has done it and they will say the rewards are worth it, but we can’t stress enough that you must be in excellent health to participate. Think you’re up for it? Find our step-by-step training guide here: https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/trekking-training-guide-tips/ . https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/trekking-training-guide-tips/ (https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/trekking-training-guide-tips/)

The teahouse accommodation on the trek is very simple, with only basic facilities. Access to electricity points for charging devices will cost extra. Wi-Fi is available at some locations, but connections may be poor.

The scenery and conditions vary between seasons. This trip includes one or more overnight stays over 3500 metres (11500 ft) where there is a genuine risk of being affected by Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). If left untreated AMS can be life-threatening. While the vast majority will only feel discomfort, it is not uncommon for a small number of people to need extra care which will be provided by our leaders and local staff. All our trips that spend time at high altitude follow our standard altitude safety measures. A number of medical conditions and medications can also reduce your body's ability to acclimatise, and thus will affect your performance at altitude and make you more susceptible to AMS. If you are worried about any pre-existing condition (e.g. heart problems), or unsure of your physical ability, you must seek medical advice prior to booking. You may also wish to discuss medication such as Diamox that may help aid acclimatisation. Read more about AMS here: https://www.tuuur.com/altitude-sickness https://www.tuuur.com/altitude-sickness (https://www.tuuur.com/altitude-sickness)
Itinerary
Tick the mighty Everest off your bucket list with a trek to Base Camp
This 15-day trip is unlike any other as you journey through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp. Walk among giants and tick off a once in a lifetime experience making new friends and unforgettable memories along the way. Surrounded by (literally) breathtaking scenery, you’ll step foot in hilltop monasteries, eat your weight in dahl baht and momos, sip tea in Namche Bazaar and feel the huge sense of accomplishment when you reach the colourful flags of camp. Take on the challenge that many have taken before you and walk in the footsteps of champions. Plus, you’ll be choosing a company with a strong commitment to the rights and fair treatment of porters and trekking guides, meaning you can hike with a clear conscience, knowing you’re doing the trek of a lifetime the ethical way. This is an amazing trip with amazing views. You will be pushed to your limit but that is the nature of a multi day high altitude trek like this.

This Everest Base Camp trek was absolutely incredible. We all had the absolute best time and that was all thanks to our amazing guides Gyaljen, Bipin and Ranju. They always made sure we were healthy and having fun and were great communicators throughout the entire trek. Also without our porters we really couldn’t have done it, so awesome that our bags were always ready and there before us. Really felt like we were in good hands. All of the tea houses we stayed in were comfortable and cozy and the itinerary was perfect and was always just the right amount of walking. Really amazing time and would recommend to anyone!

Once in a lifetime trip with a lifetime accomplishment of trekking to EBC, with lifetime memories. The feeling of getting there (and the top of Kala Patthar) was greater than I imagined; I feel my soul has reached a higher state. Of course some parts are a challenge, it wouldn’t be an adventure without challenges, but our incredible guides Jangbu, Adi, Ganesh and Bikash made it all so much more bearable and enjoyable, as well as the rest of the amazing people you meet here. If you’re up for it, do it, and join the club.

The best trip I’ve ever had. Jangbu Sherpa was also the best leader anyone can ask for. Just make sure to give yourself a few extra days because the flights get Lukla get cancelled all the time ! Overall 10/10 trip
