Trip Informations
Get ready to uncover the rich culture, mouth-watering cuisine and thrilling adventures that await you on this 10-day trip in Thailand and Laos. Between plates of traditional Laotian barbecue and street food favourites at night markets, you’ll visit the villages of Pua and Muang Ngeun, hike up Wat Phu Si for sunset panoramas and cruise down the Mekong River. Plus, you’ll have heaps of free time to make the trip your own – you could take a dip in the refreshing cascades of Kuang Si waterfall or explore the caves of Vang Vieng. You'll do it all with a new group of friends and a local leader who can always point you in the right direction.
Why you’ll love this trip
Head out on a sunset hike to Wat Phu Si in Luang Prabang for some epic views over Phu Si Mountain. After the sun descends, head to Talad Mued Night Market for a barbecue feast – a local favourite.
Chill out with loads of free time to wander at your own pace. You might explore Kuang Si Waterfalls for a refreshing swim, visit the gentle giants of MandaLao Elephant Conservation or go kayaking on the gorgeous Nam Song River.
Join a hands-on workshop at a local chocolate farm where you'll craft your own chocolate creations while learning about the farm's waste management program.
Learn about the ongoing impact of the Vietnam War in Laos on a visit to COPE, an organisation dedicated to assisting those who have been affected by unexploded ordnances (bombs and grenades) left from the war.
Explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Luang Prabang. Rise with the sun and watch saffron-robed monks shuffle between houses, where the faithful wait with offerings as part of an almsgiving ritual.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip is made for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group of like-minded travellers. The itinerary has a mix of included activities and free time when your leader will offer suggestions. Please budget spending money for optional activities you want to partake in.
Accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. The simplicity of life in Laos is one of its many charms.
There are some long travel days on this itinerary, with lots of journeys on local transport. Things take time in Thailand and Laos. But you're on holiday, right?
This trip is part of a longer itinerary. You might be joining travellers who have already spent some time together. If you have more time to explore, you might like to check out our Real Thailand & Laos (TLYS) or Epic South East Asia (TTYAC).
When visiting religious attractions such as temples or mosques, you are required to wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees (long pants or skirts are appropriate), along with closed-toe shoes or sneakers (sandals are not permitted).
