Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Connect with local life during your two homestays – one in Moulay Idriss, widely regarded as Morocco's holiest place, and one in a traditional gite with an Amazigh family where you’ll tuck into a homecooked feast.
verified
Spend time in some of Morocco’s most iconic cities – relax in Essaouira’s sea breeze, wander the blue lanes of Chefchaouen and travel back in time in Fes’ bustling medina.
verified
Hike in the shadows of the High Atlas Mountains, then explore the palm groves and valleys of the Anti Atlas Mountains, surrounded by local Amazigh village life.
verified
Travel in a camel convoy and a 4WD to Erg Chigaga in the deep Sahara – the most incredible place to watch the sunset – and spend a night in an Amazigh camp under the North African stars, away from any sound or light pollution.
verified
Veer off the beaten track to Tata and Tafraoute, deep in the Anti Atlas Mountain Range. Check out giant blue rocks, visit the traditional granary, meet the women at a local women’s coop producing Argan oil and duck in and out of souqs.

Ramadan is an annual month-long festival, during which travel can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the day, such as restaurants or cafes, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider this when selecting your travel dates. You’ll find dates and further information in the ‘Climate and seasonal information’ section of the Essential Trip Information.

When travelling in Morocco, temperatures can get very hot in the summer while in the desert, so ensure you bring appropriate sun protection. At night and in the mountains, temperatures can drop to freezing, so ensure you also bring layers. Please refer to our Essential Trip Information for more details.

There are a couple of days with long driving hours, particularly getting to the Sahara and to Essaouira, but you’ll make plenty of stops along the way for sightseeing, photo ops and to stretch your legs.
Itinerary
Sparkling coastlines, soaring mountains, ancient cities and the Sahara Desert
On this 18-day Moroccan adventure, you’ll travel in the footsteps of pirates, sultans and nomadic people. I booked the 18 day Morocco trip and it was the best decision I could’ve made. Morocco has so much to offer and within those 18 days I was able to just scratch the surface. I loved visiting this country so much, I didn’t want to leave. My guides were zakaria and Mohamed, they both were amazing and knowledgeable. This trip was exactly what I needed and would recommend to any of my friends if they choose to visit this wonderful country!

We were not sure we would be comfortable on a group tour with strangers, but had been interested in seeing Morocco for awhile. And then we heard about this company that gives back, runs their trips responsibly and with respect for the local people and places they visit -- well that was the selling point that got us to book the 18-day tour. We are so glad we did. First and foremost, we had a wonderful guide, from southern Morocco, Jawad, who ensured that all was well with our group of 12, morning to night, answering any question, with patience and a smile. Intrepid also allows time in the itinerary for you to wander, with recommendations, to make choices on your own. We enjoyed that as well.

Morocco Encompassed was an amazing and beautiful way to see Morocco. So much history, architecture, great food, tagine and couscous lovingly prepared, a great mix of organised activities and free time, good accommodation and transport. Tour guide, Hamid, was enthusiastic, caring, responsive, knowledgeable, a delight to be with. Recommend!

The 18 day Encompassed Morocco tour was a great choice to visit all parts of Morocco from the Sahara Desert to the Atlas mountains to Tangier and everything in between. Fast trains, camels, taxis, public busses, and a 15 seater each were an experience. Our guide, Saber was professional, friendly, approachable and caring, nothing was ever too much trouble. We made lasting friendships with other tour members and with Saber himself! Do it!!!!

This was the perfect trip to get the broadest view of Morocco with a great balance of activities, down time, history, cities and rural settings. It's a busy few weeks but you won't regret getting a rich insight into the country! If you're thinking about it, just do it - I had a blast.

Morocco Encompassed was a trip of a lifetime. We visited a wide range of places- many off the tourist track - with experts local guides who gave real and surprising insights to the culture and history of their areas. Along with the interactions with local People through homestays and visits to artist run initiatives this trip provided a memorable immersion into contemporary Moroccan life that was truly unique.
