Japan is best explored on foot and by public transport. You’ll need to be fit enough to spend most of each day on your feet and able to handle your luggage as you navigate busy train stations. We recommend comfortable shoes and packing light.
verified
Double rooms in Japanese hotels can be smaller than you may be used to (e.g. 20 sqm). Every effort will be made to accommodate double room requests. However, during busy periods, there may be occasions when we are unable to offer a double room, so a twin room will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in Japanese history, culture, religion and geography. You will visit some diverse cities and towns and experience meditating in a 500 year old Zen Buddhist temple and making Sushi. An unforgettable experience!

A great trip with wonderful activities and destinations. We did lots of things that we would never have considered had we travelled independently ( Zen Buddhist meditation, sushi making, staying in a Ryokan to name a few). Recommended!

Our trip to Japan was our first trip with intrepid. I would highly recommend that anyone considering visiting this lovely country and its citizens use Intrepid as their guide service. We had a great, stress free visit due to our leader’s expertise and knowledge of the local culture and transportation system. There is a lot to see in Japan, and getting around on the train system can be complicated . Spending time and energy sorting this out has the potential of stress and taking the fun out of the experience. We had a fantastic trip. The fee was well worth it

Initial trepidation at an “organised tour” but this was quickly banished by actual experience. Small group (10 guests) plus excellent guide/leader who balanced the need for minimum necessary advance detail with informality and natural friendly manner. Strongly recommend this S an introduction to Japan.
