Trip Informations
On this nine-day Premium adventure, you’ll explore the culture and cuisine of South Korea with a local leader who has all the insights. Start in Seoul with a bowl of steaming hot pot and meet with a North Korean defector to learn their fascinating story. Wander through Gyeongbokgung Palace, head to a local home for a private food lecture, then tuck into a bibimbap in Jeonju, where you’ll learn about the town’s rich art culture. Walk through bamboo forests, then head for Mt Gaya’s Haeinsa Temple – here, you’ll stay overnight and chat with a local monk over tea. End your adventure on Jeju Island, where you’ll visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Seongsan Ilchulbong for some of Korea’s most scenic views.
Why you’ll love this trip
Meet a local Haenyeo – one of the local women divers who go diving for shellfish 10 m underwater on Jeju Island. Learn about the local fishing culture and why these women, some in their 80s, still practice diving.
Visit the home of Daniel Gray – a food expert and food tour pioneer who worked on Netflix’s ‘Street Food: Asia’ – for a fascinating lecture on local cuisine, food history and a homemade meal.
Immerse yourself in the local way of life for Korean monks at your Premium Feature Stay in Haeinsa Temple on Mt Gaya – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Three Jewels Temples.
Visit Jeju Island for spectacular views from Seongsan Ilchulbong – nicknamed ‘Sunrise Peak’, this volcanic peak earned Korea its first ever UNESCO World Heritage site.
Dine on traditional Korean delights like bibimbap, hot pot, Jeonju beansprout rice soup, bamboo ice cream and tteokgalbi (marinated grilled beef).
Is this trip right for you?
Part of travelling with Tuuur means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. You will visit the Haeinsa Temple and the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) on this trip, and this requires a level of modesty. Be sure to bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees.
South Korea is best explored on foot. In fact, most travellers are surprised at how much distance they end up covering! Make sure your shoes are comfy and you are fit enough to spend most of each day on your feet.

This premium trip has a packed itinerary giving you a taste of some of South Korea’s highlights. The food was so good it felt like a gourmet tour. There are plenty of nice walks to make up for all of the eating! The hotels are very comfortable. Our tour leader Jade was wonderful- fun, knowledgeable and kind.

I loved my trip to South Korea with Jade! The level of care that both Intrepid and Jade put into the trip showed throughout. I knew I was going to enjoy the trip, but I fell in love with Korea and its people! I also made lifelong friends and we already have more trips planned for the future!

This is a fast paced trip with lots of inclusions. Our guide, Yong really showcased his country with plenty of info & a good sense of humour. Transport included was excellent & drivers were very safe. Note: vegetarians & vegans are not well catered for in South Korea, so maybe bring some plant protein options with you.

South Korea is everything you expect and so much more. The people are charming and friendly, even when we were unable to speak the same language. The food is exceptional. The landscape and natural beauty of the country is breathtaking.
