Trip Informations
Join an adventure through Uzbekistan and uncover ancient Silk Road cities filled with mosques, mausoleums and markets that are a feast for the senses. On this nine-day trip, you’ll follow in the footsteps of traders and pilgrims, starting and ending in the nation’s capital – Tashkent. Spend two days exploring UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bukhara – the best-preserved example of a medieval city in Central Asia. Walk in the shadows of ancient, blue-tiled buildings, sleep in a yurt under thousands of stars in the Kyzylkum Desert and spend an evening at a homestay with a family in the Nuratau Mountains.
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Be wowed by the scale and beauty of the Registan – the commercial centre of medieval Samarkand and one of the best-preserved examples of Islamic architecture. See mosques, mausoleums and medressas adorned with mosaics.
verified
Spend an evening in the vast Kyzylkum Desert, sleeping in a yurt, stargazing by the fire and soaking in what’s sure to be an I’m-so-far-from-home moment.
verified
Get to know the stories and people of Uzbekistan while sharing a home-cooked meal with a local family during a homestay in the remote Nuratau Mountains.
verified
Uncover Bukhara, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city founded more than 2000 years ago. See the Ismail Samanai Mausoleum, Maghoki-Attar (Central Asia’s oldest surviving mosque) and the Ark – the city’s oldest building, dating back to the 5th century.
verified
Walk the streets of Tashkent with a full day to explore this capital city, including free time to spend as you see fit – take in the sights, sounds and aromas of Chorsu Bazaar and visit the monument to 14th-century ruler Timur at Amir Timur Square.

Central Asia is a remote destination, perfect for intrepid travellers in the true sense of the word! You will venture away from cities, off the beaten track and be able to immerse yourself in local food, life and culture.
verified
In homestays, guesthouses and yurt stays, accommodation may occasionally be more basic than what you’re used to. Shower and toilet facilities will be shared. While the comfort level won't always be high, the rewards of living in true local style in this remote part of the world are worth it.
verified
As the trip only has limited time in Tashkent, we highly recommend staying a few extra days before or after your trip to enjoy all this great city has to offer.

This trip features a balance of the historic jewels of the old Silk Road, Soviet history of the region, and modern day life. A good blend of old & new in a friendly country.
I loved every minute of it and am keen to explore the region more.

This was my first time traveling with an organized tour group and I was pleasantly surprised. The other travelers in my group were great and I enjoyed sharing this experience with them, I learned so much about Uzbekistan from the local guide that I never would've been able to learn if I had traveled on my own, and the itinerary was really great. I highly recommend the Uzbekistan Adventure trip - starting in Bukhara was perfect and the break between cities with the yurt stay and homestay was really great. I recommend staying longer in Tashkent after the trip to get a better sense of the city (if you enjoy cities that is).
