Trip Informations
From tropical beaches and cenotes to the well-preserved ruins of the Maya peoples, the Yucatan Peninsula’s draws are many. On this eight-day adventure, you’ll learn more about the lives of ancient civilisations at Chichen Itza – one of the Seven Wonders of the World – and at Uxmal – another amazing archaeological site, but with fewer tourists. Try traditional cuisine in Piste, swim in clean, clear water unique to this limestone area and visit a Maya-managed cenote that directly supports the community. Try fresh seafood, listen to local music play through the streets of colourful old cities and visit Lake Bacalar – this local favourite is still being discovered by the rest of the world and is known as ‘the Lagoon of 7 Colours’ for its warm blue waters of varying depths.
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Cruise around Bacalar’s Lake of Seven Colours during a boat tour, leaping into the stunning blue water for refreshing swims along the way.
verified
Escape the crowds and take a refreshing dip at Yokdzonot – a lesser-known cenote in the heart of the Yucatan managed by the local Maya community.
verified
Experience Chichen Itza – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Your tour of the ancient ruins includes a visit to the nearby Piste community and a traditional lunch.
verified
Visit the archaeological site of Uxmal – the lesser-known little brother of Chichen Itza, with way less tourists! Explore the uniquely shaped Pyramid of the Magician and climb the structure for amazing views.
verified
Sip zingy margaritas, feast on local cuisine and soak up as much culture and history as you can in Merida, Yucatan’s charismatic capital.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
The tropical climate of Central America means conditions can be hot and humid. Always carry plenty of water with you and stay hydrated, especially on walking tours. There will of course be plenty of chances to swim!

It's a good idea to learn as many Spanish words as you can. Locals are very friendly, but can be shy, so you'll need to make an effort to break the ice. It's a great way to show respect and involve yourself in their culture.

I had a brilliant time on the 8 day tour of the Yucatan Peninsula. The itinerary was varied and interesting, we saw a range of different things from archaeological sites to beautiful lagoons and learnt a lot about the Mayan culture. Our trip leader Valentina was outstanding and I would highly recommend this trip.

This was a fantastic tour & Valentina was an excellent tour guide. I recommend bringing a towel for those extra cenotes in between hotel stops & a reusable water bottle. Be prepared to tip everyone & bring sunscreen!

We loved this trip!!! Perfect mix of archaeological sites, stunning nature, and free time to explore. Roberto made sure everyone had a good experience. It's true, the first and last hotels aren't as nice as the others, but they are fine. Also make sure to cover up or bring an umbrella for the lagoon trip if you don't want to get burnt.

Good itinerary, great guide. Know you have to get to Playa del Carmen from Cancun airport, one hour away. Apparently joining point hotel last minute switch is a thing so be aware. If you are arriving by ADO bus a few days before, book Hotel Playa Encantada, right next to the bus terminal. If that joining point is changed to Maria Bonita, you are only a few blocks away. I would do this trip again.
